Long-Term Tattoo Aftercare

How to Care for Your Tattoo Long Term

Once your tattoo has completely healed, it will enter the maintenance stage. Proper long-term care can help protect the skin, preserve the tattoo’s appearance, and reduce premature fading.

Protecting a healed tattoo from sun exposure and fading

Stay Hydrated

Drink enough water to support your general health and help maintain healthy skin.

Prevent Sun Damage

Once the tattoo is completely healed, wear sun-protective clothing and apply a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 30–50 whenever the tattoo may be exposed to sunlight.

Reapply it according to the product instructions.

Keep the Skin Moisturized

Apply a lightweight, fragrance-free moisturizer regularly to help prevent excessive dryness and maintain healthy-looking skin.

Avoid Significant and Rapid Weight Changes

Significant and rapid changes in body size may stretch or alter the tattoo’s appearance, particularly in areas prone to skin expansion.

If you have any questions or concerns during the healing process, contact your tattoo artist directly.

If you notice signs of infection or a severe allergic reaction, seek medical attention.
